Each series of melt pumps has a specified upper working pressure limit. If the pressure value is exceeded, it may cause serious damage to the melt pump. A typical example is the high discharge pressure caused by a "cold start", which means that the downstream adapter, screen changer, or die head is still too cold, or there is unmelted solid material blocking the channel, causing the outlet pressure of the melt pump to be too high.
To prevent overpressure in the melt pump, pressure sensors should be directly installed at the inlet and outlet ends of the melt pump. This type of pressure sensor is usually connected to a control system with dual alarm functions (warning and shutdown). As a standard, Zhengzhou Bart integrates pressure sensors directly into the casing of the melt pump in threaded form. Therefore, no additional pressure sensor holes are required in the screen changer before or after the melt pump.
Melt pumps are often used for sheet extrusion (PET, PP, PE, PS, HIPS), composite, granulation (wire and underwater), coating, pipe, profile, blown film, and cast film extrusion. The specifications and models of the melt pump range from 0.1CC to 12000CC.
